Frequently Asked Questions

We know you have lots of questions! Here are some of our most commonly asked questions about our services.

What is SMR?

SMR stands for Stretch Mark Rejuvenation. With the use of a rotary tattoo machine, micro abrasions are created while depositing serums and natural oils. This promotes elastin and collagen production, improving cell turnover and creating a smoother, more improved look to the stretch marks. This is the same method we use for our Scar Rejuveation Service.

What is Saline Tattoo Removal?

Saline Tattoo Removal is the lightening of permanent makeup or tattoos using saline and our rotary tattoo machine.

What is the difference between saline removal and laser removal?

  • Saline removal is considered less painful than laser removal as we use numbing agents to keep our clients as comfortable as possible. With Saline, we are also able to provide "emergency removal" which means we can attempt to remove the pigment as early as 2 days after the initial tattoo application.

  • With laser removal, you risk the loss of hair and would not be ideal for areas such as the brow area. Laser pigment removal works in a way where the laser is used to break down the pigment and is absorbed into the body where it is eventually expelled from the body's waste system.

  • With saline removal, it is the opposite. The saline deposited into the skin helps to draw the pigment out (rather than be absorbed in). The pigment is then pushed out and comes off as a form of a scab.

How long does it take to heal? Does it hurt?

Healing takes 5-6 weeks but in rare cases it may take up to 120 days. Most clients say the procedure is about a 3 or 4 pain level on a scale of 10.

What results should I expect?

For Stretch Mark and Scar Rejuvenation

  • Most clients will see anywhere from 35%-90% improvement.

  • Results will differ for everyone as there are many individual factors that will play their role such as age, age of stretchmarks, type of stretchmarks, ethnicity, past sun exposure and sun exposure during the healing process.

  • We stress that proper aftercare is incredibly important in order to yield the best results possible per session.

For Saline Tattoo Removal

  • It is important to the process and integrity of the skin that 8 full weeks of healing take place before another lightening session can be done. No exceptions

  • Lightening unwanted pigment can be a long process and patience is required. This is true whether you are choosing a saline lightening product or laser. Please be patient and give the process a fair chance to work. Expect visible and wanted results in 2 to 5 sessions. How many sessions needed will depend on how saturated the pigment is, how deep it was implanted, the location, the skin type and how much needs to be lightened for the desired result. In many cases only a percentage of the pigment needs to be lightened and then we can continue the correction process by color correcting or color shifting. In those cases where we have pigment misplaced or in an unwanted area, color correcting will not be an option and lightening as much of the pigment as possible will be our ultimate goal.

  •  Results cannot be foreseen, predicted or guaranteed.

  • If you have any questions or concerns please call us. If at any time you have any green or yellow puss in the area of the lightening procedure, or any concerns at all during the healing process please call us immediately.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

To prepare for your appointment, please ensure you drink plenty of water that day. Please refrain from drinking caffeine that morning. No lotion, Tylenol, Aspirin or alcohol the night before. Please also wear loose fitting clothing

What is the aftercare?

For Stretch Mark Rejuvenation and Scar Rejuvenation

  • FIRST 3 DAYS: No exercise, no direct soap, no fragranced lotions, do not soak in shower or baths.

  • FIRST 4 WEEKS: Avoid direct sun, soaking, pools, hot tubs/Jacuzzis, and fragranced lotions.

  • Do not pick, scratch or itch treated area/s and do not forcibly remove and scabs that may appear.

  • Apply A&D if itchy, apply aftercare oils or Aquaphor 2-3 times a day for the duration of the healing process.

For Saline Tattoo Removal

  • Keep the area clean and open to air. Do not cover as air/oxygen provides faster healing.

  •  DO NOT SOAK the treated area in water. You can shower as normal but keep the area out of the shower spray the best you can and do not let the area stay wet for more than a few minutes. It is best to keep it dry but if you do get it wet gently pat dry.

  • DO NOT disrupt the scabbing process (i.e., no picking, scratching, etc.) All scabbing needs to fall off naturally. If you force or pick a scab off you will disrupt the process and possibly cause scarring. It is critical to keep the scabs on as long as possible to achieve optimum results.

  • ONCE ALL SCABBING HAS NATURALLY FALLEN OFF, apply Vitamin E oil 3-4 times throughout the day for a minimum of 4 weeks, or until next lightening session
